I know these posts are generally accompanied by photos of actual books, and this one won’t be any different, but I have to admit that audio and e-books are kind of taking over my reading lists now. Anyone else out there an avid audio or e-reader?

As expected, the winter has turned me into a voracious reader. But current events seem to have stoked my need to educate myself as much as possible as well. As a result I’m rereading some relevant classics as well as trying out some new nonfiction for this round.

Shorter days and longer nights are made for reading books. When fall rolls around I love to read a few classics, and the spookier the better, with Halloween around the corner.

It’s been great catching up on contemporary authors over the past few months — and I have a few current authors sprinkled in for this round too — but its definitely feeling like the right time to light a few candles and dig into some Gothic lit.

I hope everyone’s having a lovely summer so far! Despite the fact that it “feels like an armpit outside,” to quote someone I overheard in the gym yesterday.

On one hand, spending four days in Paris alone was just enough time to fall in love with the city without feeling homesick. On the other hand, it felt so fleeting that I’m already longing to go back.

Already dreading my impending return to reality, on day four of my trip I resolved to say “à bientôt” to the city, or “see you soon” rather than goodbye.

I’ll admit it: I don’t read quite as voraciously during the summertime as I do during winter. It takes a special kind of book to hold my attention when it’s not exactly “curl up on the couch with a cup of tea” weather. Read on for the books I’ve been sticking with lately…

(And hat tip to Grrfeisty for inspiring me to write my own “what I’ve been reading” post.)
