I love taking weekend road trips to Austin. With all the new stuff popping up on a daily basis on the East side, there’s always something new to see and do, plus all our favorite Austin haunts as well.

So when we saw that Eagles of Death Metal had both a Houston and an Austin date on their tour, we opted for Austin and booked an Airbnb so we could make a fun roadtrip out of it. We also decided to finally try out this Franklin Barbecue place that everyone’s always talking about…

This past weekend I was invited to model in the fashion show at Pop Shop Houston. It was such a blast getting all dressed up in Hello Lucky‘s clothes and jewelry and practicing my walk on their flower-lined runway. Read on to see what I got to wear!

Maybe some of you out there feel like Christmastime is exciting and magical. Well, I envy you. Probably most of you (ahem, including me) just feel stressed out by the time Thanksgiving rolls around. Fred’s schedule has been matching mine lately, which is rare. He works in theatre, which means his work schedule is generally the exact opposite of mine. We’re not even ships passing in the night — sometimes there’s no passing at all.

So since he’s been working 9-6 on weekdays lately we felt like we shouldn’t waste the opportunity to take a weekend trip to Austin. Even though it’s changed a lot since I lived there, it will always have a piece of my heart.

Our current living situation in The Heights is admittedly quite lovely. I really like how that area has a true neighborhood feel to it, while stopping short of feeling like the burbs. But it won’t last forever. We’ll only be in this house for about another two years. And while we might find a place there when the time comes, I’m not convinced it’s the best match for us.
